The meeting was called to order by President, Richard Thompson, at 10:10 on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Pour House, Siren, WI. There were 10 members in attendance.
Minutes of the last meeting, April 16, 2011 were read by Secretary, Mary Anne Thompson, Motion was made by Harold Beedy, seconded by Tom Ireland to approve the minutes as read.
Financial Report by Mary Anne Thompson as prepared by Cheryl Gray, Treasurer. Motion to approve the financial report as read was made by Harold Beedy, seconded by Wayne Johnson.
The date set up at the last meeting for working on trails ended up to be a rainy day so had to be canceled. Several of the members have been out working on trails and signs and because of all the rain this spring there are lots of places needing extensive trail work and will be costing the club a lot of money to get them in shape. A new culvert has been installed on Trail 45 near Hap’s Landing and there is one and possibly two culverts needing repair west of Hillside. The Snowmobile Association will be working jointly with us to get the culvert situation taken care of. There is also a pending project along Highway 35 in Danbury from Holmes Landing Road to the Log Cabin Store. Trail maintenance will be ongoing until the opening of the trails the end of the month.
Members had a lengthy discussion on ways to generate some funds to reimburse the money we’ve used for new tools and to repair the trails. It was felt that we should probably start with meat raffles and Rick called for volunteers with little result. Denise Peyton offered to help when she was available. We will probably have to wait a year or two because of the economy before thinking about a full blown fund raiser with big raffle items. The Wild River Sports donated three very nice jackets that we will attempt to raffle off in some way this year. It was also suggested that we should perhaps start a building fund and have intermittent meat raffles specifically for that fund. Until we get some volunteers to do meat raffles or any kind of raffles, we won’t be scheduling any at this time.
There was a short discussion on a membership drive to get some of our lost members back into the club. One suggestion was to award the person getting the most new members signed up with a monetary award.
There was also a discussion on a two day club ride. One day meeting at the Fishbowl and riding the trails to the north and the second day meet at the Fishbowl Bar and ride the trails to the south. This will be discussed at the next meeting to see if enough people would be interested.
The newly revised club bylaws were sent to all members with a notice that they would be voted on at this meeting. Motion was made by Harvey Thompson to approve the bylaws as written, seconded by Harold Beedy. The motion passed unanimously to approve the bylaws as presented.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hillside Bar on Highway 35 out of Danbury.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Harold Beedy, seconded by Wayne Johnson. The meeting adjourned at 11:25 a.m.
Respectfullly submitted,
Mary Anne Thompson, Secretary
