June 2011 Minutes
The meeting was called to order by President, Richard Thompson, at 10:10 on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Hillside Inn, Danbury, WI. There were 15 members in attendance.
Minutes of the last meeting, May 14, 201 were read by Secretary, Mary Anne Thompson, Motion was made by Norman Both, seconded by Elmer Both to approve the minutes as read.
Financial Report by Ron Gray as prepared by Cheryl Gray, Treasure:
Motion to approve the financial report as read was made by Wayne Johnson, seconded by Mary Anne Thompson.
Harvey Thompson said that Wade Rufsholm, the person who pulled the groomer out of the mud while working on the culvert near Hap’s, did not charge us donating his machine and time to the club. Harvey made a motion that we give him a gift certificate in the amount of $50.00 seconded by John Kielkucki.
Nominations for the three board of directors positions were called for. Mary Anne Thompson nominated Ron Gray; Wayne Johnson nominated John Kielkucki; John Kielkucki nominated Wayne Johnson. President Thompson called for any additional nominations. Being no additional nominations and since the three positions are presently filled by those nominated, Norman Both made a motion that the secretary cast a white ballot for the three nominees to fill the positions. Motion was passed unanimously by those present at the meeting. Therefore, there will be no election in August.
Rick stated that since we’ve been having so much rain the trails will have to be brushed mostly on the corners and around signs. This work can be done during the week or the early morning hours on weekends. Brushing will be started this coming week.
Meat raffles will be starting today at 2:00 p.m. at Gliders and next Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at Northwoods. We will also be having a meat raffle at the Lumberjack on Friday, July 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Oakridge sometime after that. The executive board has decided that the proceeds from the meat raffles will be used to set up a building fund at the Bremer Bank in Danbury. It was also decided that when the CD mature date comes up that money will also be deposited in the building fund. There was a lengthy discussion on the reasons for buying land and building a building and all the different uses we could get with our own building.
A club ride was again discussed and those attending thought we should perhaps wait until shortly after Labor Day when it was a little cooler and maybe not quite so dusty. The thought was again that it would be two different days to the Hillside and then to Hap’s. This will be discussed again next month.
Diana Dahlman told the group about their situation with getting to the closest trail in Swiss Township without trailering from their cabins. They will again be looking at taking a request to Swiss Township in the future.
It appears that no one was interested in taking part in the parade in Danbury over the July 4th weekend. It was mentioned that we should perhaps take the groomer and set up a tent to sell memberships and clothing at the Ribfest in Webb Lake in August. We will be checking into that.
The next meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Rosenthal’s Resort. Don’t forget that they serve breakfast on the weekends.
Diana Dahlman won the drawing.
Motion was made by Ron Gray to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Wayne Johnson. Meeting adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
Respectfullly submitted,
Mary Anne Thompson, Secretary
