Motion was made by Larry Koch, seconded by Norman Both to approve the financial report as read.
Larry Koch reported that Daniels Township passed an ordinance to open several routes in their area. Old Highway 70 is signed and opened. You can now ride from Daniels to Siren. They are also working on the town of Falun to open some routes in that area.
Several people on Springbrook Trail in Swiss Township requested that their road be open for riding in order to get to the trail. The request was denied at this time. The club also received a bill for $282.89 from Swiss Township for publication of an ordinance last year in the Leader and Sentinel. We have never received a bill from any of the other towns for published ordinances.
There was discussion about a fund raiser and possibly a club ride. Larry Koch will check with Rich Timm about the party he wanted to put on for the ATV Club. Larry will be working on organizing a ride which could be part of the fund raiser. He will report back to the next meeting.
Richard McIntyre and Carl will check with the Wisconsin Tavern League about their donation toward the price of signs. Last year a couple of their members attended a meeting and indicated that the Tavern League would have monies available to donate to the club for signs.
The County Routes Ordinance passed out of the Infrastructure Committee and will go before the full County Board at their next meeting. Carl stated that the ordinance does not mean that all county roads will be opened. Each route request will have to be made by a municipality or the Turf and Tundra ATV Club and only those roads that go somewhere i.e. to a trail or business will be requested and must be presented on the proper form.
Harvey Thompson volunteered to store and maintain the tractor and drag at his house and will be in charge of grooming and scheduling. We recently purchased a 500 gallon fuel barrel.
Carl asked for volunteers to work this week on the trails. There is work to be done on Trail 41, a tree to be removed and dozer work to be done on Trail 18 near Hillside. Several people signed up to help out with these projects.
Carl was pretty certain that all of the funding for last year has been spent. The new contract runs from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 for trail maintenance which ends on September 15. We are paid $450 per mile for a total of $24,300 a year.
Questions have again come up about the insurance coverage recently purchased by the club. The new policy does not cover workers on the trail, it covers liability only.
The cell phone booster that was purchased has been returned because the plug was too long for the recepticle. Harvey Thompson said the snowmobile club will let us try theirs to see if that would work. Richard McIntyre said he would donate an AT&T phone but the club would have to have it activated.
The club donated a hat and gloves to the Danbury Chamber of Commerce for Danbury Days and also a helmet was donated to the Wisconsin County Forestry Association.
The subject of club meat raffles was discussed. Lunker’s Lounge has requested that the club hold a meat raffle once a month on Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. and Smitty’s has requested that we do a meat raffle every week on Friday evening from 5 - 7 p.m. Both businesses are in the process of coming under new management and the details would have to be worked out with the new owners. It was the consensus that we probably don’t have enough people willing to work to do one every week but maybe we could work with the Sportsman’s club and do one every other week. The subject has been tabled until the next meeting.
We will have nominations for officers and board members at the next meeting with elections taking place at the August meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 31 at 9:00 a.m. at Gliders (Lunkers).
Winner of the drawing was Harold Beedy.
Motion was made by Richard McIntyre, seconded by Harold Beedy to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 10:15.
Respectfullly submitted,
Mary Anne Thompson, Secretary
