If and when we get some rain, Carl asked for volunteers to sign up to brush and clean the trails.  There should be no ATV’s on the trails at this time so work could be done on weekends.

Work is being done on the new trail map. Chad Alden has signed up 17 new Siren businesses for ads on the map.  Ron and Cheryl Gray have been working with businesses in the Webb Lake/Minong/Wascott area and Carl has been contacting the Webster area.  We will be ordering 7,000 maps this year compared to 5,500  last year.  This year’s map will be a different format and contain UTV information.

Carl reported that he is still working on the insurance coverage matter.  He found that ATV and Snowmobile insurance language is not the same.  Carl will not be signing a contract until we get liability coverage for the groomer and its operator.  Carl will continue to work on this and no grooming will take place until this matter is resolved.

The Humphrey lawsuit is still pending.

Carl requested and was granted a change in the speed limit on the trails.  It will be reduced to 30 mph.  There was a short discussion on why the trails and routes don’t have the same speed limit to make it easier to understand.  Carl explained that the routes are actually roads and roads are 20 mph and are controlled by the townships.  They cannot exceed county ordinance but can require anything less

Members in attendance discussed club rides and the issue of the monthly club ride information on the club website.  Harold Beedy advised that no one showed up last year for any of the club rides so he just gave up on it.  It was agreed to take it off the website.  If someone wants to organize a club ride(s) to let Carl know and that information can be put on the website.  No one volunteered.

Polaris Industries agreed to again donate $1,000 in merchandise to the club.  Possibly we should be thinking about having a mini-fund raiser this fall with raffles of the merchandise and maybe a meat raffle.  Carl said if anyone wishes to do meat raffles for the club to let him know.  It takes 3 or 4 people and there should be enough people to rotate the events so it isn’t the same people every time.  Each meat raffle nets $150 to $200 and we get the meat from Wayne’s.

Webb Lake township bought 40 acres of land from the State and will be selling off part of that land.  We will be watching for information on the sale of the land they won’t be using and possibly make an offer/bid

Riding of UTV’s on the trails has been approved; however, townships can opt out and must publish the disallowance if they so desire.  The language in the ATV ordinance on county roads is still in the works.  All county roads will not be opened and approval will be done on an individual basis with request coming either from a township or an ATV club.

Harvey Thompson and Harold Beedy agreed to get some information on a smaller tractor to be used in the Webster area.  Richard McIntyre agreed to store the tractor and groom the area trails.  There was a lengthy discussion on whether or not there would be enough work to do in that area to warrant the purchase of another tractor.  This information will be brought back to the next meeting.

Rick Thompson did some research on a “cell phone booster” to be used in the groomer.  He said the best one would be $169 with no monthly fee.  Harold Beedy moved that we buy the booster, if we sign a contract, seconded by Harvey Thompson.  Motion passed unanimously.

Work is still in progress to get ATV riding approval in the Grantsburg township and village.

Cheryl Gray volunteered to act at the club treasurer until the next election in August.  Rick Thompson made the motion to approve Cheryl to be the treasurer, seconded by Harold Beedy.

There has been no more work on the club bylaws.  Carl said we will be working on it as soon as the contract matter has been resolved

The next meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, at the Charlies Lumberjack, Webb Lake, WI.

Harold Beedy moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Wayne Johnson.  Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.

                                        Respectfullly submitted,

                                        Mary Anne Thompson, Secretary
