The Turf & Tundra ATV Trails Association
of Burnett County 2009 Newsletter

We started this year’s activities with cold, wind and snow at the Swiss Fire Department Mud Bog and ended it with more of the same. Despite the weather we had a great turn out for the Fall Fund Raiser held at Rosenthal’s Resort on Saturday, October 10, 2009. A SPECIAL THANKS TO John and Maria for hosting the event and allowing us to take over their business for the evening to make it such a great success.

Everyone was provided with a free door prize ticket and most people participated in the raffles at which the homemade quilt sewn by member, Dian Schaaf, and the child’s riding tractor donated by Baribeau Implement, were two of the most popular items. Thanks to all the businesses that donated door prizes and raffle items.

The pizza and chicken donated by Rosenthal’s was great and many enjoyed the piping hot booya cooked outside, despite the weather, by Larry and Deb Dale and Ron and Marie King. Also, thanks to Superior Beverage, Superior and General Beer Northwest, Chippewa Falls, for the beer donation. Please patronize our business advertisers whenever possible.

Congratulations to all the raffle winners:
ATV – Jim Faser
$500 – Brian Hegge
$400 – Leroy Bohnsack
$300 – John Scanlon
$200–Jerry Briggs
$100–Keith Mortenson

We sold 1,336 tickets and the net income from the ATV raffle tickets was $5,169 with the total net proceeds for the evening being $8,066. Thanks to all the people from the club that volunteered their services and those that spent many weekends at holiday events and in front of businesses selling the ATV raffle tickets. Without all these volunteers, we would not have been so successful.

During the summer, Burl Johnson, Fishbowl Bar, sponsored a Poker Run fund raiser with the proceeds donated to the club and also provided an appreciation picnic for ATV club members. Also, last month we had a Booya feed at the Oakridge Inn with music and meat raffle. Thanks to all the businesses who support the club with these activities.

The officers and board members met several times this year to discuss the general operation of the club, the fund raiser, purchase of a new tractor and possible changes to the club bylaws. The recommended changes to the club bylaws will be brought before the membership at the first meeting next year.

New routes/trails were open in the Villages of Siren and Webster and in the townships of Siren, West Marshland, Lincoln, Union, Swiss and to the west side of Hillside Bar in Blaine Township. Remember to follow the signs! The Township of Grantsburg and the Village of Grantsburg are being worked with for next spring. A new map will be printed next spring with the new trails and routes (roads) on it. Thank you to the Burnett County Forestry for all their help and cooperation.

Have a great winter and stay safe. See you in the spring!
